The Opening Xbox Game Pass Titles of 2026 Show Xbox Is Still Fighting.
Everywhere you go, fans keep sounding the death bells for Microsoft's gaming division. The platform was lately surpassed in sales by a relatively obscure console. Xbox fan sites have started writing regarding Sony's platform unprecedentedly. Last year proved to be an era of significant turmoil for the Xbox ecosystem. But if we're going solely off the upcoming Game Pass lineup in 2026, it becomes clear that Xbox still intends to draw people in with strong games on its premier subscription.
The Immediate Additions
The duo of games currently accessible at this moment, Brews & Bastards and Little Nightmares Enhanced Edition, are not the headliners. The true anticipation is for the upcoming titles to Game Pass in the coming weeks that's deserving of attention.
Significant Forthcoming Releases
On Jan. 13, Game Pass will add the underappreciated Star Wars Outlaws, an open-world game that breaks up conventional open-world tropes with a cosmic robbery tale. Another big get is Resident Evil Village with its iconic tall vampire, which our 2021 review called "an ideal blend of horror and action."
Noteworthy Smaller Games
But even the smaller games coming to Game Pass soon are quite compelling. Lost In Random: The Eternal Die, the criminally overlooked roguelike that is incredibly fun, drops on Jan. 7th — and it's worth experiencing regardless of whether you played the first Lost in Random game.
This UK-developed survival title from last year might get its hooks in you remarkably quickly.
Atomfall, the stealth survival game by the developers behind Sniper Elite, is also a game to check out. Ultimate tier members also have Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine – Master Crafted Edition to get excited about.
A Robust Selection of Games
In summary, these titles aren't industry-shaking releases to Game Pass, and they are also not first-party juggernauts that validate the subscription alone. But Microsoft's additions here are exceptionally strong. The lineup provides a solid mix of older titles you may have skipped and fairly new titles that didn't get the attention they were due initially — which makes them ideal prospects to find a new audience on Game Pass.
You might need to brace yourself to part ways with The Grinch Christmas Adventures, however.
