Soccer Analyst Sutton Battles Artist Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions
The Gunners' 10-game victorious run came to an end by the Black Cats prior to the international break, however can the English top division leaders recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?
"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked soccer expert Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still find a way to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of special visitors.
For week 12, he takes on performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United fan.
Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.
Soccer and Parenting Experiences
Murs is a talented footballer as well as a successful artist and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not planning a serious comeback as a footballer.
"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "My side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you want!
"I continue to love football, but I hurt my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.
"Additionally I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."
Murs and his wife Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.
"I will not push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their Saturday football side," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a while too.
"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"
Premier League Predictions
Weekend, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already more potent with Joao Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.
In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against the Reds and Arsenal.
It smells of a one-all tie to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have lost their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at their stadium, they appear strong again.
West Ham's sole on the road win this season came at Forest in August, when West Ham manager Nuno was still that team's manager.
So, what on earth do I predict here - can the Hammers extending their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth bouncing back?
I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the season began, but they have surprised a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their last four matches.
My son advised me to get Brentford forward Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, guess what, I didn't listen.
Thiago will probably score again on the weekend but I am still not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will attempt to hit them on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team pose much more of a threat.
The analyst's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1
The computer's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their past six matches.
They have have lots of quality in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a relegation battle.
As for the Black Cats, well they are the surprise package of the Premier League season so far.
The away side's performance in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not witnessed any other team rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.
The logical choice to do to back the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of roughing Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.
However I am not going to do that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of credit for their positive outcomes because they clearly love to defy my predictions.
Looking at the home side's at Craven Cottage record, the sole side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's team will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0
AI's outlook: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who profit from the {international break|
