19 of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first championship for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a former world number one, has endured a torrid period, achieving just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-time coach Cervara.

Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is particularly special," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His defensive play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted commentators to question if his ability to compete at the highest level was concluded.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and compete aggressively, supported by an better service.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

Both players exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional victory, gained dominance to force a third set.

The opponent defended four early opportunities in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to 15 to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent failing to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
