Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

No police reports were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Chiefs went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
