Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities stated on late Wednesday. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

Remembering the Victims

Those who lost their lives were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”

This update on his health follows the boxing community had expressed condolences for the fighter in the aftermath of the heartbreaking incident.
